Both systems offer an advancement in how technology can be integrated into instruction. The ethical issue is the level of control and adaptability that each approach permits (or does not permit) the end-user (including public school districts and their students). Putting an appropriate device into the hands of all students improves their ability to connect to their teachers and enables teachers to deeply embed technology into their instruction.
